D’Arcy’s Century In Five Hours

(New Zealand Press Association) DUNEDIN, November 13.

Two more centuries were scored in Dunedin senior cricket on Saturday to bring the total number to seven in the six days of play this season.

Opening for Carisbrook, J. W. D’Arcy made 116 against Dunedin, in a painstaking innings lasting almost ,five hours, and the New Zealand spin bowler A. M. Moir rattled on 127 at the rate of a run a minute for Grange against North-East Valley. It was the first day’s play in the fourth series of first-round matches v and although the weather clouded over halfway through the afternoon and a few spots of rain fell, no play was lost. Scores:

Carisbrook (v. Dunedin), 257 for four declared (J. W. D’Arcy 116, K. O. Campbell 52; F. J. Cameron three for 52).

Grange 283 (A. M. Moir 127), North-East Valley seven for 98. Albion 85 (J. Bray six for 34) and two for 24, University 72 (G. Anderson six for 23).

Old Boys 138’ (R. I. Long 52; N. T. Woods five for 48), Kaikorai, four for 106 (C. A. M. Currie 52; V. A. C. McArley four for 36).
