New Zealand Forest Products employees spent yesterday afternoon fighting a scrub fire in the Tahorakuri block near Oruanui. The area burned was south of the company's forests, and the fire could have been very dangerous had- the wind shifted to the south. The fire began about midday, and raged through scrub and cutover forest. By late evening the fire was subdued buit still smouldering in fallen logs. A close watch is being kept. About 200 acres was burnt, and 30 men with a tanker, bulldozer, and other fire-fighting equipment fought the blaze.
