COMET’S TOUR OF N.Z.

Air Marshal On Visit (N»w Zealand Pres* Association) PALMERSTON N.. Oct 17. The Comet Mk. 11 of 318 Squadron of tlje R.A.F. Transport Command, which brought Air Marshal Sir Denis Barnett officer in command. R.A.F. Transport Command, to New Zealand, made an exhibition flight over the greater part of the North Island today. In 3hr ISmin the aircraft covered 800 miles and made lowlevel runs over some of the major cities of the North Island, including Wanganui, Hamilton. Auckland. Gisborne, Napier, and Palmerston North. It also flew over Christchurch. The aircraft will leave Ohakea on Wednesday for Rongota; Auckland, and Fiji. The aircraft will then return to England through the U.S.A, to complete a round trip of the world. Travelling with the aircraft is Squadron Leader A. L. Tsuwhari. a Maori officer who has been with the R.A.F. for the last nine years He last visited New Zealand two years ago. His sister, Mrs A. P. Minchin, lives in Feilding. Until a year ago Squadron Leader Tauwhari was with 218 Squadron, but he is now with headquarters. R.A.F. Transport Command.
