FARMERS WATCH DOUBLE-KNIFE MOWER.—Farmers attending the annual field day at Canterbury Agricultural College’s Ashley Dene farm yesterday watching Mr George Lindsay, a lecturer in the agricultural engineering department, operating a tractor drawing a double-knife mower which has no fingers or guards. The cutting is done by two knives working against each other. The movement of the two reciprocating masses balances. The machine is operating in a lucerne-grass mixture.
