Mr Nash’s Mission

Sir, —The general policy of the United Nations appears to pursue the normal trends of international imperialism, the basis of the present world threat of atomic bomb destruction. On page 396 of “The Epic of America,” James Truslow Adams mentions that by 1921 the American Indians were deliberately defrauded of tens of millions of dollars. The present momentous meeting of the United Nations Is now based on who is going to benefit in the looting of the Congo of valuable minerals such as uranium, cobalt, diamonds, copper, tin, and gold. If Mr Walter Nash has ideas of forming an international cartel, both for the benefit of the Congolese peoples and also the international society of imperialists, he will have performed a diplomatic miracle.—Yours, etc., RALPH S. WHEELER. Timaru, September 30, 1960.
