NOTED BREEDER DIES
Mr J. A. Wooding, Of Temuka (New Zealand Press Association) TIMARU, October 2. Mr J. A. Wooding, a well-known farmer and horse breeder, died at Temuka on Saturday. He was 64. Mr Wooding farmed at Four Peaks, near Geraldine, for many years. The best galloper bred by Mr Wooding was Rhythmonic—a stout stayer which was sold for £lO,OOO to an Australian buyer. In the 195657 season, Rhythmonic had nine wins, including six in succession. His wins included a Riverton Cup, the Sockburn Handicap at Riccarton, and the Birthday Handicap at Wingatui. Other good winners bred by Mr Wooding were Rhythm Rein, Jesse Owens, Willie Wolseley, and de Bracey. By a coincidence, Willie Wolseley, who was raced by Mr J. M. Milliken, of Winchester, died of a burst blood vessel on Saturday. The seven-year-old galloper collapsed after a'training gallop at Orari. Willie Wolseley started 48 times for five wins and 12 placings, worth £1705 in stakes.
