AIRLINER HELD
Move Against Cuba
(Rec. 11.30 p.m.) NEW YORK, September 21 Legal officers seized a Cubana Airlines turbo-prop plane, which arrived at Idlewild Airport last night carrying two Cuban delegates to the United Nations. The aircraft was placed in the hands of a temporary receiver appointed by State Supreme Court Justice Louis L. Friedman.
The three million dollar plane arrived from Havana with Mr Juan Almedia, chief of the Army, and Mr Regino Boti, the Cuban Minister of Economics, as passengers. \ Three planes, a DC-4 and two Britannias, have now been seized. Last night’s seizure was made on behalf of a Cubana Airlines stockholder, who obtained a Court order for a temporary receiver 1 for the airline on the ground that it had been nationalised by the Cuban Government and had ceased to do business. The first two planes were seized on an order obtained by the Miami advertising firm of Harris and Company, which claims the Cuban Government owes it 237,801 dollars.
