ADMIRALTY EFFICIENCY

Attack By M.P.s" Committee

LONDON, Sept 21 A withering broadside at the set-up of the Admiralty was made today by a select committee of members of Parliament the “Daily Express” reported. In a scathing indictment which would make every sailor wonder how he ever got a clear-cut order, the admirals were charged

with top-heavy staffs, blatant inefficiency, and hardly any control over spending. The 36 members of Parliament who made the report urged a similar probe into the Army and Air Force.

The committee found that where a civilian was in control, efficiency increased.

Their report concluded: "We are convinced that the greatest possible reduction in the size of the naval staff would contribute materially towards both economy and efficiency of the headquarters organisation.”
