SONOMA DISPUTE SETTLED

Watersiders Resume Work (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, September 12. All work was resumed on the freighter Sonoma at Auckland this morning after the settlement of a dispute between the Auckland Cargo Workers Union and the ship’s owners, the Matson Line, during the week-end. The stoppage occurred after the death of a cargo worker from injuries he suffered on the ship last week. Mr K. Adams, secretary of the union, said today that carpenters had put up a 3ft wide catwalk around the ship’s hatches. Chain lashirig considered as an obstacle by the union was removed.
