TRAMWAYMEN’S MEETING
Wellington’s Transport May Stop Two Hours (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, August 25. The stoppage of Wellington’s public transport for the stopwork meeting of the Wellington Tramways Workers’ Union In the Trades Hall at 1.30 pan. tomorrow may last two hours.
Transport will begin to halt shortly after 1 p.m. to allow workers time to walk to the meeting. The secretary of the union (Mr P. A. Hansen) said today the union was co-operating with the city transport superintendent to get the workers back to their jobs.
£509,000 For Hospital.—-The Alfred Hospital, in Melbourne, is to get a gift of up to £500,000 for a neuro science institute, the Premier, Mr Henry Bolte, announced today. The gift was made by the Melbourne importer, Mr Louis Roet, of Toorak, and his family, he said. Mr Roet gave the money in gratitude for treatment he had received at the hospital.—Melbourne, August 24.
