New Zealand manufacturers were producing electric blankets which met all safety requirements and which were at least equal to the world’s beet, said the New Zealand Electric Blanket Manufacturers' Association in a supplied statement. Providing purchasers ensured electric blankets had been made to the New Zealand standard specification and followed the instructions they could have confidence in the reliability, service, and safety of the blankets. The most recent statistics showed that in. 12 months, 1131 persons were admitted to. hospital after injury in their homes by burns or scalds. Ohly one of these was attributable to an electric blanket catching alight. There were 250,000 electric blankets in. uge.
