KAWERAU PAPER

Experimental Change In Colour (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, August 1. The Tasman Pulp and Paper Company is now producing whiter newsprint from its machine at Kawerau. By the use of dye. the company had switched from the production at “rather creamy” newsprint to “blue-white” paper, the company's managing-director (Mr D. W. Ttmmis) announced today. The change was still experimental, and the company was calling for comments from publishers before deciding on the final colour scheme. The experiments. Mr Timniis said, were designed to aid printing techniques. Meanwhile, the machine is running at a consistently high speed —producing a 22ft sheet of newsprint at the rate of 1905 ft a minute.
