COUNCIL OF RETAILERS

New N.Z. Trade Association

(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, August 1.

The formation of a new trade association, the New Zealand National Council of Retailers’ Organisations, was announced today by the first council president (Mr J. F. Living) of the Retailers' Federation.

Mr Living said the new organisation would not concern itself with problems peculiar to one or two constituent organisations, but would deal with matters of national interest to all retailers. National organisations represented on the new council include booksellers, chemists, stationers, jewellers, butchers, tobacconists and hairdressers, sports dealers, cycle traders, office equipment suppliers, and glass, paint, and wallpaper merchants. Mr Living said he was sure the Government, Government departments, commissions and similar bodies would welcome submissions from a central organisation able to speak for most trade associations connected with retailing, rather than receive identical representations from separate organisations.
