Table Tennis Australians Beat North Island

(New Zealand Press Association) PALMERSTON NORTH, July 31. The touring Australian table tennis team, beat North Island by five matches to nil at Palmerston North on Saturday. The Australians Jennings and Wilcox thrilled the gallery with their brilliant play. However the North Island team, M. Dunn (Wellington), G. Frey (Northland), and A. Tomlinson (Auckland) were by no means disgraced. The most exciting match of the evening was between Jennings and Dunn. Jennings won, but he really had to play hard for his win. Dunn’s form was spectacular. Results last night were:— Singles.—Jennings beat Frey, 21-15, 21-19; Wilcox beat Dunn. 21-11, 19-21, 21-13; Wilcox beat Frew, 21-17, 22-20; Jennings beat Dunn, 21-18, 11-21, 21-18. Doubles.—Wilcox and Jennings beat Dunn and Tomlinson, 21-17, 4-21, 21-19.
