N.Z. Test Team Chosen
(New Zeuuiria Press Association) WELLINGTON. July 31. A. R. Tomlinson (Auckland), B. A. Foster (Otago), and M. L. Dunn (Wellington), will be New Zealand's team to play the touring Australians, G. Jennings and M. Wilcox, in the first apd only* table tennis test of the tour, at Whangarei on Saturday next. Foster and Tomlinson will play in tlie singles and Tomlinson and Durin In the doubles. Tomlinson is the captain. Tomlinson played for the North Island on Saturday, but only in the doubles. He has yet to meet the visitors in singles play but he will get a test warm-up on Friday night when he plays for Auckland against Australia.
Foster is one of three men, all South Islanders, who has won a singles against the Australians. He is the South Island champion. Dunn has twice failed to win a singles against the tourists whose impressive 5-0 win over North Island on Saturday night should give them confidence in the test. The match was scheduled to have been played on Friday night at Auckland, but was transferred to the Northland association at Auckland’s request.
