Major-General G. E. R. Bastm, assistant controller of munitions at the War Office, London, is at present visiting New Zealand.— (PA.) The Rev. H. J. Takens has been, appointed vicar of Ross and South Westland. Mr Takens was formerly assistant vicar at Holy Trinity Church, Avonside, and during the last year has been a student at St. Augustine's College. Canterbury, England. He will take up his new work in September. Messrs E. M. H. Kemp,, A. E. Reid, P V. E. Stainton, Dr. Muriel Bell and Dr. F. S. Maclean, have been appointed members of the Board of Health for a term of three years from July 1. Messrs A. G. Bagnall (Wellington), V. F Fisher (Auckland) and F. G. F. Sheppard (Wellington) have been appointed members of the National Historic Places Trust for a term of three years. Mr Bagnall represents the New Zealand Library Association. Mr Sheppard the New Zealand Institute of Architects, and Mr Fisher has been nominated by the Art Galleries and Museums Association of New Zealand. Messrs N. M, Moore and R. D. Morrison have been appointed members of the Kokatatn Domain Board. They replace Messrs J. A. Roberts and C. T. Woolhouse, who have left the district.
