Lower Prices At Start Of 1960-61 Wool Season
The 1959-69 wool-selling season opened yesterday at Wanganui with a winter sale of Wellington and Wanganui catalogues. Prices generally were several pence below opening 195859 rates. A direct comparison is not possible because the official range of prices this year is for the combined offering; last year's listed the Wanganui and the Wellington prices separately. A Press Association message says the Wellington wools had been valued in Wellington stores and were sold first The Wanga-
nui catalogue of 8881 bales followed. It comprised mainly crutchings and second-shear, with the usual oddments. The following report is Issued by the Wanganui Woolbrokers’ Association, in conjunction with the New Zealand Woolbuyers’ Association and the New Zealand Wool Commission:— Due to the favourable weather in the autumn and early winter, the offering compared favourably with that of previous winter sales. In the main crutchings were quite bulky and muddy condition was
not excessive, although, with the increased incidence of second shearing, there was a considerable weight of short crutchings. Range of Prices Following is the official range of prices:—
