URBAN PROPERTY SALES
Survey By Valuation Department (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, July 27. Though there had been more activity in the urban property market during the last year the level of values had remained reasonably stable, said the annual report of the Valuation Department, presented to the House of Representatives today. The report said the total number of urban transactions had increased by about 8 per cent, over last year’s total, and was slightly less than in the particularly active year of 1955. In the year ended March 31, 1960, there were 45,125 urban transactions involving a total of £94,866,061, an average of £2102 a transaction. Statistics showed that over the last five years the total number of transactions had been well maintained and the total consideration had been increasing annually. The average price in 1959-60 was slightly higher than the previous year’s but slightly below the 1958 peak figure.
