LICENSING OF TRANSPORT
Authority Grants Amendment
The granting of an amendment to the continuous goods service licence held by the StandardVacuum Oil Company, Ltd., to carry petroleum products in bulk or package between the Rangitata and Waitaki rivers with exemption from rail restriction, would not prejudice the Railways nor would its refusal benefit the railways. Therefore, the amendment would be granted, said the No. 9 Transport Licensing Authority (Mr J. S. Haywood) in a reserved judgment.
The proposed vehicle for the operation of the amendment would cost £4500. As well as showing it was a satisfactory vehicle, that gave ah indication of the company’s bona tides. As 99 per cent, of the products for distribution were to be brought to Timaru by sea, there was no question of the need for protection to a rail-fed depot, said Mr Haywood.
