Townswomen Of Beckenham
The eleventh birthday party of the Beckenham Townswomen’s Guild was celebrated at a social afternoon held in the Methodist Sunday School Hall, Sydenham. Representatives of the Dominion executive, Mrs R. H. Smith (secretary) and Mrs C. Ironside, were present Mrs F. H. Pheloung and Mrs F. Sanger represented the area.
Representatives from the 18 sister guilds tn Christchurch, a guild member from overseas, Mrs W. Hatton, of Aberdare. Glamorganshire, Wales, and Mrs G. Thomas, also attended. Vocal solos were given by Mrs E. Hill, and recitations by Mrs G. E. Harris. The choir presented in costume excerpts from “The Country Girl.” Mrs R. •Allison was the producer. Mrs R. H. Smith lit the candles on the birthday cake, and Mrs F. H. Pheloung extinguished them. The cake was cut by Mrs
W. Hatton. Mrs J. M. Steinmetz presided, and presented floral sprays to the guests of honour.
