AMERICANS AT OPERA
Recollection Of Japan Visit “Madam Butterfly," the New Zealand Opera Company production, gave happy memories of Japan to two American visitors who attended the theatre on Tuesday evening. They are Dr. M. Riemer and Mrs Riemer, of New York. “We were very impressed with the whole production," said Mrs Riemer. “It recalled our visit to Japan two years ago." Before her marriage, Mrs Riemer, now a grandmother, was a concert pianist, and also sang with the Schola Cantorum, the biggest choral society in New York. She still has a keen interest in music. Mrs Riemer’s main activities now are the women’s auxiliary of the National Medical Students’ Aid Society, of which she was chairman last year, and the Physicians Wives’ League of Greater New York. This organisation raises funds to care for the families of indigent physicians, and for scholarships for promising children.
