CLEARING SALE AT ROSS
(From Our Own Reporter) HOKITIKA, July 18. There was a large attendance of farmers from all parts of Westland at a recent clearing sale held in Ross on account of Mr P. F. Houlahan. Competition was keen for all lines of sheep, cattle and farm machinery and excellent prices were realised. Principal sales were: 73 two and four-tooth ewes, £4 11s; 63 six-tooth ewes, £4 7s; 200 full-mouth ewes. £2 16s to £3 7s; 10 aged ewes, £lO 10s; 5 rams, £3 3s to £l2 12s; 34 breeding cows, £22s 10 to £34 10s; 22 rising two-year steers, £26 10s to £3l 10s; six rising three-year steers, £36 10s; nine rising • yearling steers, £l6; one rising four-year Hereford bull, £B4 4s; 1 hack, £3l; tractor and mower, £177; two tractor trailers, £7O each; woolpress. £27 10s; posts, £45 to £56 a lot; box topdresser. £ll. On account of J. Hansbury, 60 female ewes, £2 3s; on account T. M. Manera: 15 rising two-year fat heifers, £34 10s; on account J. G. Rea, six rising two-year Jersey heifers, £34 10s.
