N.S.W. COUNTRY SIDE ARRIVES
10-Match Tour Of South Island
The New South Wales country Rugby team arrived in Christchurch yesterday afternoon for its 10-match tour of the South Island. Twenty-five players, together with the manager, Mr W. McManus, and the assistant manager and coach, Mr T. Mcßride, comprise • the party. Included in this team are three players who toured New Zealand with the 1958 Australia side, B. Ellwood, J. White and J. Lenehan. On this tour Ellwood, with six tries, had the best try-scoring record. Two other members of the team, F. .Fenwicke and W. Gunther, toured to the British Isles with the 1957-58 Australian side. The team’s first match will be against Marlborough on Saturday, and the itinerary for the rest of the tour will be: July 13, v. Nelson; July 16, v. Golden BayMotueka; July 20, v. Buller; July 23, v. West Coast; July 27, v. MidCanterbury; July 30 v. Otago; August 3, V. Southland; August 6, v. North Otago; August 10, v. South Canterbury; August 13, v. Canterbury Sub-unions.
