ALL BLACKS’ COMPLAINTS

w Line Has To Be Drawn”—Craven

(N.Z. Press Association-Copyright) CAPE TOWN, July 1.

The complaint by the touring All Blacks that they were having to "pay for their own newspapers and cinema tickets and were generally dissatisfied with hospitality in South Africa has led to an inquiry-

The president of the South African Rugby Board, Dr. D. H. Craven, told the “Cape Argus”: “I will have to go into this complaint. We want the tourists to be a happy team and not go short of anything they require in the way of entertaimhent and hospitality,” he said. \ Dr. Craven said, however, that the line had to be drawn somewhere—the International Rugby Board stipulated that touring players were Ho be paid 10s daily to cover incidentals. On tour, hospitality was the respbnsibilty of the local Rugby body. There had been no complaints about the hospitality from the 1955 English team nor the 1953 Australian team.

“I must say that the New Zealand Rugby Union and provincial unions themselves extend lavish hospitality. Every member country of the International Board has different ideas of hospitality,” he said. Dr. Craven said that he had discussed the complaint with the All Blacks’ manager, Mr T. H. Pearce, and felt sure “things will be settled satisfactorily.”
