Sound Trials At Wingatui "The Press' Special service DUNEDIN. July 1. Promise and Peril, rival candidates for the Donald Grant Memorial, the feature race at the South Canterbury Jockey Club's meeting, came through their final gallops in a pleasing manner at Wingatui yesterday afternoon. The work was again held up until a late hour through frost. The fast work was held 12 feet out on the inside grass. The track was heavy. Promise (R. J. Skelton) was going easily to finish in line with Ravelston (H. T. Anderton), Mitre Peak (P. J. Denton) and Linton (B. J Anderton) at the end of five furlongs In Imin 9sec. the last three furlongs in 43 2-ssec. Promise won the Oamaru Winter Cup at his last appearance and he has done well in the meantime. Ben Ledi (R. J Skelton) was not extended to finish on terms . with Kumal (B. J. Anderton) and Surapt (H. T Anderton) over the same ground in Imin lOsec. the first two furlongs in 26 l-ssec.

Peril (J. D. Pankhurst) r*n.a sound mile and was assisted over the last hls ’tablemate. Mattock (R. J. Skelton) Peril ran the last seven furlongs In Imin 40 3-Bsee. the final half-mile in 57 3-Ssee, and the concluding three furlongs in 44 3-ssec, and did it well. Ops (R. J. Skelton) completed her work by eoming home the last half-mile in 36 2-ssee, and the last three furlongs in 43sec.
