DISAGREEMENT WITH RULING

Mr Holyoake’s Notice Of Motion (New Zeaiana Press Association! WELLINGTON, July 1. The Leader of the Opposition (Mr ’’olyoake) today, gave notice of his intention to move that the House of Representatives' disagrees with a ruling by the Sneaker (Mr Macfarlane) yesterday.

The Speaker refused to allow a motion by Mr Holyoake to adjourn the House to discuss “urgent public business." Mr Holyoake wanted the House to discuss the report of the Controller and Auditor-General. The Speaker ruled it was not urgent public business and there would be opportunities to discuss it during the present Ad-dress-in-Reply debate. When a motion to disagree with the Speaker’s ruling comes before the House the usual procedure is for the Prime Minister, who controls the order of business, to put it at the bottom of the order paper, where it stays throughout the session. It is expected this will be' done with Mr Holyoake’s notice of motion.
