MR NASH DENIES REPORT
Families Seeking To Leave N.Z.
(New Zeaiana Press Association) WELLINGTON, July 1. A report that 100 Baltic families in New Zealand had applied to' return home was not correct, the r~ime Minister (Mr Nash) told the House of Representatives today. He was answering a question by Mr D. M. Rae (Opposition. Eden). Mr Rae asked the Minister of Internal Affairs (Mr Anderton) if he would inform the House how many Latvians. Estonians. Lithuanians or Ukranians who were New Zealand citizens had applied for passports to leave New Zealand for Russia or else-
where... Mr Nash said he was informed the statement by the Soviet Em-, bassy in Canberra that 100 families in New Zealand had applied to return was incorrect “Certain applications were sent over from Australia to the Soviet Legation here when there was no legation in Canberra. It was those applications, that were referred to in the report,” Mr Nash said.
