YOUTH FALLS OVERBOARD

Ordeal In Icy Water (From Our Own Reporter) WESTPORT, June 30. A 16-year-old youth, Denis Franklin, of Westport, who fell overboard from the fishing trawler Spray near The Steeples, about two miles off Cape Foulwind on Wednesday night, was not missed until the vessel had proceed for a quarter of a mile. He had been sent by the master of the Spray (Mr D. Herring) to cover a winch, and he was not missed immediately. As soon as his absence was noticed, the Spray was put about and retraced her course, and Franklin was discovered about a quarter of a mile away in the icy water. He was in a state of near exhaustion when found, and collapsed for a time after being taken aboard the vessel. However, Jie has since recovered from his ordeal.
