FORBURY PARK CONVERSION

Overseas Advice Sought “The Press* 1 Special Service DUNEDIN, June 30. The course superintendent of the Harold Park Raceway, Sydney, will be invited to Dunedin to advise the committee of the Forbury Park Trotting Club on the construction of an all-weather track suitable for night trotting. This was decided at a special meeting of the committee last night to discuss the change over to night trotting, which was passed by a large majority of members this month. A finance sub-committee consisting of Messrs J. W. Holley, C. H. S Stevens and J. G. Barnes was formed to handle the change over. Mr C. E. Larsen was appointed convener of the special works committee for night trotting. Tenders will be called within the next few days for the lighting contract . It was decided to send a circular letter to the 700 members of the club with a view to raising £lO,OOO by way of debentures. These will be in £5 units.

It was decided to send a letter of protest to the New Zealand Trotting Conference about the dates pf the Auckland and Wellington Trotting Club’s clashing with Forbury Park dates. The president (Mr R. K. Aitchison) was appointed to represent the club at the annual conference of delegates to be held in Christchurch next month.
