POSITIVE SWAB
Advice About Mineto Advice has been received by the New Zealand Trotting Conference that a swab taken from the trotter Mineto after she had won the Parawai Handicap at Thames on June 18 has- proved positive. No date has been set for the inquiry but it will be held in Auckland. Mineto is the fifth horse to return a positive swab this season. All the others have been in the South Island. They were Bon Ton, Battle Fling. Space King and Glenoware. Mineto is raced by Mr R. H. Brinkworth and is trained at Matamata by her owner who holds an amateur trainer-driver’s licence. She is a six-year-old mare by Loreto from Sterling Silver. Birkenhead, the runner-up to Mineto at Thames, has been penalised an additional 24 yards in the Pressmen’s Handicap at the Cambridge Trotting Club’s meeting tomorrow. She will now start from 60 yards.
