Electricity Tariffs Reduced

Reductions of electricity tariffs aoproved by the Heathcote County Council last evening will result in a saving of £1 7s 6d a year to ordinary domestic consumers, £4OO among 27 commercial consumers, and £BOO among three industrial consumers. In effect, the reductions will return to consumers £3300 of the council’s electricity department’s surnlus of £4587. “-This will offset to a large extent the impact of the slight increase in rates,” said the chairman (Mr R. A. Young). “We should not budget for unnecessary profit, but pass on all the benefits we can to consumers," he said.
