ADMINISTRATIVE STAFF

Board Contemplating Dismissals (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 30. Steps would have to be taken in the near future to dispense with the services of the administrative staff of the New Zealand Players, said the actingchairman of the Players’ board of governors (Mr G. H. A. Swan) tonight. The cast and technicians of the present touring play, “A View From the Bridge.” have been under notice for several days now. said Mr Swan, and the play will finish on Saturday in Napier.

“The rest of the organisation must be paid off because we don’t know where we are going at this stage,” he said. The _en>y staff to be retained; will be the quartet of players which is at present travelling round the secondary schools of the country. This group, which presents classical drama literature to more than 250,000 school children annually, will continue till its present programme finishes in October.

Mr Swan said the quartet paid its own way. No word has yet been received from the Government as to a possible subsidy for the Players. <
