Monowai Sold For Breaking Up
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 21. The Union Steam Ship Company today announced the sale of the Monowai to the Far East Metal Industry and Shipping Company, Hong Kong. The Monowai will be broken up. The Hong Kong firm recently purchased the New Zealand Shipping Company’s Tongariro for breaking up. The Monowai is due in Wellington from Auckland tomorrow. She will be laid up until it is decided whether a New Zealand or foreign crew will take her to Hong Kong.
