WORLD SNOOKER TITLES

Brilliant Match By South African

(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) BRISBANE, June 16. The South African snooker player, Freddie van Rensburg, fought back splendidly to beat Norm Squire (Australia), five frames to four, after being down four frames to one in the world open snooker championships here today. Van Rensburg, with perfect safety play and brilliant potting, upset Squire’s concentration.

The win allows van Rensburg to share second and third prize money with Squire. The match was the best seen during the tournament so far. Squire played first-class snooker for the first four frames, but van Rensburg settled down when the match seemed lost, and played with consistent brilliance to take the next four frames and the match.

Van Rensburg won 3J-46, 44-54, 54-14, 12-99, 27-103, 86-58, 59-12, 63-47, 65-15. Van Rensburg had breaks of 29, 28, 27, 27, 24, 22, and Squire, 41, 41, 38, 30, 23, 22.

The stealer of a tyre from a car in Franklin, Kentucky, sent the motorist victim 30 dollan 25 yean later.
