DC-6’s Still Up For Sale

(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND. June 16. The three DC-6’s which Tasman Empire Airways replaced with Electras were still up for sale, said Mr F. A. Reeves, general manager of the company, today. Several offers were under consideration. An earlier sale negotiated in New York failed after the buyer was unable to find the purchase money. Mr Reeves said they could not Carry sufficient freight to allow economic freight rates, so their future as commercial cargo planes was dim. They did, however, have a military value.
