Cigarettes Seized At Auckland

(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, June 16. Auckland customs officers have seized 20,000 contraband cigarettes in a raid on the Dutch freighter Houtman at Captain Cook wharf. The cigarettes were of American brands and were hidden in the engineroom. The Houtman has a Chinese crew. She came to Auckland from South Africa.

Oven Fire.— An oven fire in the Rosary House Hostel, 128 Park terrace, about 11.30 a.m. yesterday caused no damage. The call was attended by a unit from the Cefttral Fire Station.
