VALUES IMPROVE AT TEMUKA SALE

(From Our Own Reporter) TIMARU. June 14. Today’s Temuka sale was a satisfying one for vendors with values in all sections improving on late rates. At a special sale of dairy cows outstanding prices were obtained. A top price of £6O was paid, with the remaining cattle averaging about £45 a head. Sixty head of medium quality beef cattle made up the fat cattle arding and values showed an improvement on prices ruling at last Thursday’s St. Andrews sale. Store cattle also sold well. There was again a large entry of fat sheep and values improved from 3s to 5s a head, although there was a slight easing towards the end of the sale. The store sheep comprised a few tail-end lots, but this market was again firm. i In the pig section weaners were in short supply and met with an excellent clearance. > Values were:— < Cattle.—Fat steers, good £45 to £49 12s 6d; medium, £3B to £44; light, £2B to £37; fat heifers, good, £36 to £39 12s 6d; medium, £32 to £35 17s 6d; light, £24 2s6d to £32: fat cows, good, £3l to £34 Ils 6d; medium, £26 to £3O; light, £2l 2s 6d to £25. Store cattle: two-year-old steers, to £33 10s; 18 months’ heifers to £22 IDs; calves, £8 to £l4 10s. Dairy cattle: dairy heifers to £lO 10s. /

Sheep.—Fat wethers, good, £4 to £4 10s; medium, £3 10s to £3 19s: light, £2 8s to £3 9s; fat ewes, good, £2 3s to £2 ss; mediura, £1 15s to £2 ss; light, £1 to £1 13s. Store sheep: wether hoggets, woblly, £1 4s 6d to £2 7s; ewe hoggets, woolly, medium £1 13s to £2 4s; two-tooth ewes, £2 7s to £3; full-mouth ewes, £1 18s to £2 15s; wether hoggets, shorn, £1 2s to £1 9s. Pigs.—Weaner, £2 7s to £4 ss; slips. £4 10s to £5 ss; porkers, £7 to £11; baconers, £l2 to £l4 ss.
