AUSTRALIAN WOOL CHEQUE
Best Since 1956-57 Season (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) SYDNEY, June 14Australia’s wool cheque this season will be the best since 195657. Already it has reached nearly £334m, or £68,632,473 more than lor the corresponding period last year. Figures for the 11 months ended May 31 are now released. Average value of greasy wool receded only 3 ,id in May, and at a time when receivals into stores Were creeping up to the record 4867.300 bales of 1956-57. The present average price for g r easy wool is (48.72d last May) ’ ■ess scoured wool has come on th market, and the price has risen from 61 22d to 78.82 d.
Potato Shipments Up to last Saturday, 83,745 sacks of potatoes had been shipped from Lyttelton, 31,779 in the last fortnight. Details of shipments to the various ports for the fortnight with season's totals in parenthesis. V/ ere: Auckland, 14.244 sacks <39.243); Wellington, 6991 (17,404); Napier, Gisborne, 5272 (13,596); West Coast North Island, 5272 *13.142); Fiji, nil (360). The total for the season to date last year •was 96.162 sacks.
