Mr A. J. Lawson has been granted a Lever Brothers’ study award for chemical engineering. He was educated at St. Bede's College and is now in his third year at the University of Canterbury. Dr. E. Badian, a graduate of the University of Canterbury, and now of Durham University, has accepted an invitation to a visiting professorship of ancient history during 1961 in the University of Oregon. A former pupil of Christchurch Boys’ High School. Dr. Badian is the son of Mr and Mrs J. Badian, of Christchurch. He is the author of “Foreign Clientelap” and a number of other classical publications for which be was recently given the seldom-awarded Conington Prize by the University of Oxford.
