NEW STAND AT ELLERSLIE
(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, June 6.
The new members’ stand at Ellerslie compared more than favourably with any stand in the world and nothing as ambitious as its construction had been attempted previously in New Zealand, said Mr G. H. Grigg, president of the New Zealand Racing Conference, who officially opened the stand before about 28.000 persons today. Mr Grigg said the club had been racing for almost 100 years and it was at Ellerslie in 1913 that the first fully automatic totalisator, invented by Sir George Julius, was used for the first time. , . , , j The president of the Auckland Racing Club.
