THREE CARS IN ACCIDENT
Seven Persons Taken
To Hospital
(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, June 6.
Seven persons were injured in a three-car accident on the Takanini straight at 4 o’clock this afternoon. Six of them, including a -family of four and another husband and wife, were admitted to hospital. Traffic piled up on both sides of the accident for some time. Mrs Shirley Olive Sutcliffe, aged 28. of Auckland, was admitted to the Middlemore Hospital with concussion. Her daughter. Christine, aged eight, was also admitted with a broken leg Another daughter, Karen, aged four, was admitted to the Auckland Hospital with severe concussion. Late tonight Mrs Sutcliffe’s husband, John William Sutcliffe, the driver of one car, was still being attended to in the Middlemore casualty ward. Ralph Appleton, aged 23. of Mount Roskill, was also admitted to the Middlemore Hospital with concussion. His wife. Beatrice Appleton, aged 23, was still in the operating theatre late tonigh' She suffered very severe cuts to the face and scalp. The driver of the third car. George Crawford Weston, of Pukekohe, was treated at Middlemore Hospital for minor injuries and sent home.
