JAPANESE SOCIALISTS

Mass Resignation Approved TOKYO, June 6. The Japanese Opposition Socialist Party today formally approved the resignations of all 125 Socialist members of the Lower House in an attempt to block ratification of the new United StatesJapan Security Treaty. Resignations were expected to be tendered to the Lower House Speaker at an appropriate time between June 11 and 19.

The party convention also approved 168 Socialist candidates for elections —by-elections or general elections—to be held if and when the resignations were accepted or Diet (Parliament) was dissolved.
