TELEVISION IN AUCKLAND

First Of New Programmes

(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, June L

Television viewers in Auckland tonight saw the first of the new Wednesday night programmes to be telecast from Channel 2, the Auckland television station.

The two-hour telecast included serials, from Britain and the United States, a documentary film, an interview with a ballerina Beryl Grey, and vocal items from the Howard Morrison quartet. The documentary, which dealt with the care and afflictions of children’s eyes, was of a particularly high standard. The action serials were all right technically, but leaned heavily on arrows, bullets and commando knives. Miss Grey, and the Howard Morrison quartet were a triumph for the artists and the studio staff.
