SCHOLARSHIPS IN ITALY

Three Offered This Year

To bolster cultural relations between New Zealand and Italy, the Italian Government has decided to offer three scholarships for New Zealand students, graduates, teachers, artists and similar persons to study in Italy for about eight months from November 1, the opening date for Italian universties.

The scholarships will be worth 60,000 lire (about £35) a month, tax free. This is the average cost of living for a student in Italy. Students may take advantage, of facilities in student hostels and messes. In addition, the scholarships will include allowances for fees and books. Travel concessions will be given and fares from Wellington to Rome may be refunded. Extensions may be given to persons to complete university studies in Italy. One scholarship will be awarded to a student or graduate in Italian and the other two will be awarded in pure or applied sciences, the liberal arts, or music and fine arts.
