A St John Ambulance carrying four doctors and a considerable amount erf equipment raced 35 miles to Helensville and back to Auckland in Ihr 35mln early yesterday morning to take a seriously ill maternity patient to the National Women’s Hospital. The call came at 3.55 a.m. and the woman was in the Auckland Hospital at 6.30 a.m. Within 12 hours, however, the ambulance was speeding back to Helensville to get the woman’s baby, which had suddenly become very ill.
