Hutt Valley Teacher’s Death
(Ntw Zealand Prese Atsociatlon) WELLINGTON, April 18. A 25-year-old Hutt Valley schoolteacher, Hubert Geoffrey Gavin Wood, who disappeared from his school a fortnight ago, was found.dead in his bed this morning, with a bullet through the heart The police found a J 3 rifle beside the bed and a note. About a fortnight ago he left the Taita Central School, where he was teaching, when the lunch bell rang. He drove away in his motor-car and did not return. He was found a few days later in Wanganui and he returned to Wellington. This morning he was found dead in bed in his flat on The Terrace, Wellington. Detectives say there are no suspicious circumstances. Wood was the son of Professor F. L. W. Wood, professor of bis* tory at Victoria University of Wellington, who, with his wife, is in England
