Situation.—A deep depression located to the north-east of the North Island is moving slowly south-eastward; a belt of high pressure lies west to east across the South Island; and a westerly air stream flows to the south of the country. Forecast: West Coast.—Cloudy in Buller, otherwise fair; moderate temperatures. Outlook: mainly cloudy. Canterbury.—Light or moderate variable winds, mainly north-easterlies on the coast: some areas of fog and low cloud, chiefly about t.\e coast this morning, otherwise mainly fair, with moderate day temperatures. Outlook: mainly cloudy. A* Nelson.—Fresh east to south-east winds outside Tasman Bay, otherwise light or moderate variable winds; mainly cloudy; some scattered light rain, chiefly about the eastern high country; moderate temperatures. Outlook: mainly cloudy. ’ Marlborough.—Moderate to fresh south-east winds about the coast, otherwise light to moderate winds from the easterly quarter; cloudy skies, with some scattered light rain; moderate temperatures. Outlook: mainly cloudy.
