Athletics Brilliant Solo Walk By N. R. Read

(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON. April 10. A brilliant solo effort on Saturday took- N. R. Read, the Olympic 50.000 metres walking champion, within five minutes of the world record for the distance. His time of 4hr 31min 33sec. recorded on a 35-lap circuit at Trentham, was a personal best and should assure him of a trip to the Rome Olympics this year.
