STATE VISIT TO MALAYA
Change In Plans i For Mr Nash ■ • (New Zealand Press Association) • WELLINGTON, April 1. ihe death of Tunku Sir Abdul iman, the King of Malaya, has cafsed the Prime Minister (Mr Nash) to defer his State visit to Malaya. Jlr Nash, who was originally to leave Christchurch - airport on Saturday night for Australia on hi» way to Malaya, will now depart next Tuesday from Christchurch for Australia en route to Singapore. After fulfilling engagement at Singapore Mr Nspsh will go on to London and arrive there as planned. |lr Nash was to have been in Malaya from April 4 to April 8 prelusive, where he would have been a State guest and would hajre opened Malaya’s new Faculty of Agriculture. This proje<p was financed by the previous Government of New Zealand. ft can be assumed that the opening ceremony of the faculty wijl be postponeo more or less indefinitely.
It was not made quite clear toaight how Mr Nash’s travel arrangements have been readjusted, but it is thought th|t he might now pay a brief visit to Canberra and dieuss with the Australian aiihorities the question of a joint Australia-New Zealand owned vej*el for the trans-Tasman run once the present vessels are tafcen off Mr Nash will keep to his schedule in Singapore and will flw from there direct to London he will arrive on April 11 as* previously planned.
