It was almost certain that the Prime Minister (Mr Nash) will givje consideration over the week-end to the request of the national ‘chairman of the Citizens’ All Black Tour Association (Mr Rolland O’Regan) for Mr Nash’s promise “to set down later a considered statement of the views of the Government upon the situation” arising from the exclusion of Maori players from the New Zealand Rugby team to tour South Africa. The team will leave New Zealand next May. provided the tour is placed in no jeopardy through continuance of the racial disturbances in South Africa. Such confirmation is at present being sought by the New Zealand Rusby Union from South Africa. Mr O’Regan said earlier today that more than, a month had passed since Mr . Nash gave an undertaking to a'deputation on February 26 to provide a statement of views, and “it will be a further two months before the Prime Minister returns to New Zealand after the completion of his visit to overseas countries.
